Germantown Colony and Museum
Photo field trip with the Shreveport Photographic Society.

Production Overview
The Germantown Colony and Museum is a historical site and museum in Webster Parish, Louisiana. It was a communal settlement founded in 1836 by German followers of the religious leader Maximilian Ludwig, the "Count of Leon." The colony operated as a commune with all property owned in common until 1871. The museum, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, preserves the history of the colony. While many of the original buildings are gone, the site still features two original log buildings: Countess Leon's home and the kitchen-dining hall.
